Queen Latifah was a fat kid in the candy shop on Saturday night.
Held at the New York Times Center, the Black Girls Rock Awards honors African-American women making strides in arts and entertainment. Janelle Monáe, Mary J. Blige, Salt-N-Pepa’s Spinderella and “#1 Soul Brother” winner Anthony Hamilton were among the honorees at the fund raising event for the Black Girls Rock organization founded by celebrity DJ Beverly Bond.

Quick Flicks: Diana Ross Enjoys A Day Out With The Fam
The darling of Motown Records and her brood was spotted recently having a lunch date in California. Diana Ernestine, being the doting mother, took pics with her own digital camera to immortalize the happy memories experienced on that very day. What caught my eye about the pic was how Evan Ross toyed with the paparazzi, never once turning around to acknowledge them. I assume he didn’t “have his face on” [makeup] and refused to be seen in that condition.

Tuck away your bitch because Slickback is on his his Duke Ellington shit! The natural wave pattern champion got all dolled up for the National Urban League Opening Reception in New York City last night. Clothing designer Mychael Knight didn’t hold back any punches when it came to giving him a run for his money in the fever department but I think Slickie’s eyes sealed the deal. Better luck next time!
