I actually think that Teyana Taylor is a dope entertainer [read: I enjoy watching her dance and nothing more] and I look forward to seeing what she brings to the table in the future.
The Princess of Star Trak joined Lloyd, JoJo, O’Neal McKnight, Keisha Chante, Ryan Leslie and an almost unnoticeable Denzel Washington at Universal Motown and Hearst Digital’s event on Tuesday night.
If you have never had the joy of watching O’Neal McKnight’s video for “Check Your Coat” click here. It was so zestlicious I had to wipe my fingertips off on my pajama pants the first time I watched it.
Try not to make a tranny joke about that second picture, okay?
After going to get tatted up, Rihanna surprised her best friend Melissa ‘Big Red’ Forde with a birthday party last night at New York City’s Star Lounge last night. Boom Kat, Chris Brown, Teyana Taylor, Keith Robinson, Chrisette Michele, Ray J and a host of other known unknowns were in the building.
I haven’t been able to look at Teyana quite the same since someone made left comment saying she resembled a pound puppy with a wig on. My soul is still aching. Hit up Necole Bitchie for more flicks from the party.
The creative minds behind Heatherette [Richie Rich and Traver Rains] have hooked up with MAC to create a special line of cosmetics. Snap for the kids! For quality insurance the products were probably tested on 1,000 wee-wees before they made the cut, but I’m not complaining.
Star Trak artist and Heatherette muse Teyana Taylor hit the stage at the launch party for the line in New York City on Tuesday night. Guest also included: Vanessa + Angela Simmons, Nina Sky, the walking WTF that is Amanda Lepore and Julissa Bermudez.
So this is what the hype was all about? Well now . . .
Plain and simple, Teyana needs more people and ringtones for me to give my seal of approval. I’m almost tempted to call this fuckery, but I won’t since its Good Friday and I’m feeling Christ-like.
Don’t get me wrong, I think she has a magnetic personality and plenty of charm [not to mention she can dance her little ass off - - I youtubed her!]. Its just that I’m not sure if all of that translates well in the video. I blame Pharrell.
How did you get so happy?
Hard work. No longer living by anyone else’s demands. I’m grown, I’m evolved, I can accept all that comes with being an individual.
What comes with being an individual?
In my case, trust, faith, hope, optimism, courage, wisdom, enthusiasm, and pizzazz.
What do you do?
I lip-synch, but I’m more of an example, an icon in my own right, a muse. I want people to look at me and feel inspired, to feel hope, to smile. I want to surge positive energy in your body, confirm that you too can be yourself.
Does it happen that way?
Oh, sure. I get some “Wow, oh my goodness, what the hell, you look fantastic, holla brotha” when I’m walking down the street, but my favorite thing I ever got was, “I am just so glad you’re alive.” I’ve had so many people say that to me, and that’s what assists me on continuing my journey. I was put on this earth to be a bodhisattva, to just glow, emanate love, respect, peace, pizzazz. It’s powerful.
Find out who had these beautiful words of wisdom after the jump!
I can’t imagine PigPen pulling a child over to the side and saying “you’re future is so bright you’re going to need sunglasses, ya smell me?” but maybe he does care. More flicks from the 2nd Annual Entertainers 4 Education Alliance Stay In School Event below.
