Oprah really got the ball rolling with her television network OWN by having high-profile celebrities to spill tea in one-on-one interviews. Then she gave Iyanla Vanzant the platform to fix your life. Iyanla’s interview with beloved Evelyn Lozada produced the highest ratings the network had seen since inception. Of course that wasn’t enough to keep you and your cousins tuning in to the network. Now, Lady O has linked with Tyler Perry in a multi-year deal to help script shows to keep those coins coming in for the fledgling channel.
With Tyler Perry basically turning the TBS network into the TPS (Tyler Perry Station) with the heavy presence on the network with his scripted sitcoms “House of Pain,” “Meet The Browns,” and “For Better or Worse”, the new venture seems like a no brainer to keep the struggle network OWN thriving. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with to have people actually tune into the network.
