Nelly escaped from the clutches of Ashanti and Mama Tina 2.0 to take a trip to Dubai to open up an Apple Bottom store [Vokal ain't selling in this recession, hell let's be real, it wasn't selling before] and make his media rounds.

Decked out in a purple suit coat and purple shoes, David B. Johnson appeared before a judge in the Markham courthouse last month on his 13th charge of driving on a suspended license.
At that Jan. 23 hearing, Judge Christopher Donnelly sentenced Johnson to 10 days in jail beginning Feb. 6. The judge also sternly warned him not to drive his car before then.
Johnson donned his purple fedora and full-length fur coat and walked out of the courthouse to his purple 1988 Cadillac. The dashboard of the immaculate four-door sedan had a placard that said “PIMP PLAZA” and the rear spare-tire cover was stenciled “Mister Oldskool.”
Johnson pulled out a feather duster — purple, of course — and cleaned off his car for about five minutes.
Then he drove away — with a bevy of female onlookers hooting and hollering to him, said Steve Patterson, a spokesman for Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart. When Johnson pulled onto a street outside the Markham courthouse, Cook County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Czerwinski stopped Johnson’s car and arrested him.
Getting In The Way
According to reports Nelly is ready to pop the question to Black Fran Dresher but there is only one issue stopping him – - her overbearing mother.
“Tina sticks her nose in everything because she’s also Ashanti’s manager,” a source tells Star. “She’s always pushing Ashanti to make more money, to always look great. It stresses her out, and Nelly doesn’t like that.”
The rapper, 34, has tried to encourage Ashanti, 28, to become more independent, but “Tina has such a strong personality that she’s kind of afraid of her.” Still, if the singer doesn’t put her mom in her place soon, she won’t be getting that rock she’s been hoping for.
“Before he makes her his wife,” adds the source, “Nelly wants to know that Ashanti can make decisions on her own.”
Mama Tina 2.0 is a graduate from the Sonya Norwood Momangment Institute, so none of this gossip should leave anybody in shock.
Instead of focusing all her attention on what Ashanti and ol’ Apple Bottoms boy are doing she may want to check in on Shi Shi to make sure she hasn’t turned into a blueberry like the little yt girl on Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. You laugh but I’m concerned.
MTV x CNN x Artists Salute Vets
MTV’s Choose or Lose campaign and CNN have partnered to broadcast a concert supporting veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. ‘A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE’ will tonight on MTV [8 p.m. EDT] from a performance taped in New York on Thursday.
The concert will feature performances by 50 Cent, Ludacris and Saving Abel, as well as taped performances by Kanye West, Kid Rock, Fall Out Boy, Angels and Airwaves, Nelly, Juanes and Taylor Swift. Making taped appearances will be Beyoncé, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend and others.
