Essence saluted Solange Knowles and Lianne La Havas at its 4th Annual Essence Black Women In Music Event. The Lincoln sponsored invitation-only affair was hosted by Essence magazine editor-at-large Emil Wilbekin and last year’s honoree Kelly Rowland.

“Lianne and Solange are the perfect examples of what’s current in music and having Lincoln sponsor an event celebrating these two young progressive African-American women is an honor,” says Lincoln manager of Multicultural Marketing Shawn Thompson.

From The C+D Vault: Did You Know LisaRaye Made A Rap Song With Benzino?

d From The C+D Vault: Did You Know LisaRaye Made A Rap Song With Benzino?

Whether you know her as Diamond from Player’s Club or as the former First Lady of Turks & Caicos (we’re looking at you, Rocsi), LisaRaye has managed to stay semi-relevant since she hopped on the scene.

In a ploy to most likely snag an endorsement with Tide for her all white everything attire (how did that work out for you, sis?) about a decade ago LisaRaye took a page out of half sister Da Brat‘s book and tried her hand at rapping — opposite Benzino. This is the part of the game where you fall the fuck out laughing.

Memo: LisaRaye Doesn’t See it For ‘Hollywood Exes’

lisa raye1 Memo: LisaRaye Doesnt See it For Hollywood Exes

The question ‘is that the pot calling the kettle black?’ has been old for a while now but why would anybody purposely miss an opportunity to pose it to Former First Lady Diamond?

The “actress” whose claim to fame is a starring role as a booty meat shaker that was so convincing it followed her for the rest of her life (she’s cool with it, though) has a special message for the kettle holders over at VH1 regarding the new series ‘Hollywood Exes.’

The show follows Nicole Murphy (photographed above with husband-to-be retired NFL player Michael Strahan this week) along with a handful of other entertainment ex-wives in their personal lives. Yeah, it’s a snoozer but still, really LisaRaye?

LisaRaye: “I Think I’ll Forever Be Diamond And That’s Ok For Me”

lisaraye1 LisaRaye: I Think I’ll Forever Be Diamond And That’s Ok For Me

Ha! Your online taunts of “First Lady Diamond” do little to massage the ire of actress LisaRaye.

Classically trained in scallywag, the 45-year-old former wife of Turks and Caicos premier Michael Misick says that she isn’t ashamed of her humble Hollywood beginnings as an onscreen booty shake temptress in the 1998 film ‘Players Club.’

“Well, I think that that was over 10 years ago. I think I’ll forever be Diamond, and that’s ok for me,” the ‘Single Ladies’ star explained to That Grape Juice TV in an exclusive interview. “That’s my beginning and I’m not ashamed of that. But, when people ask me if there’ll ever be a ‘Player’s Club 2′, it’s like . . . not with me in it.”

This is exactly what Nicki Minaj meant when she ranted about knowing your self-worth earlier this week.
