Good news for those of you who have been eagerly anticipating Carmen Bryan‘s second book. All four of you.
Nas’ former girlfriend and mother to daughter Destiny offered her thoughts on the Queensbridge rapper, his bromance with Jay-Z, his ex-wife Kelis and more in a recent “Ask Me Anything” session while teasing the follow up to her 2007 tell-all on Twitter this week.
“I didn’t didn’t realize you and Jay were serious about each other. I thought it was just a fling,” one of her followers tweeted. “Wars don’t start over flings,” Bryan began. “There’s no doubt Jay-Z excited the world, however, I’m the girl that excited Jay-Z.”

Essence saluted Solange Knowles and Lianne La Havas at its 4th Annual Essence Black Women In Music Event. The Lincoln sponsored invitation-only affair was hosted by Essence magazine editor-at-large Emil Wilbekin and last year’s honoree Kelly Rowland.
“Lianne and Solange are the perfect examples of what’s current in music and having Lincoln sponsor an event celebrating these two young progressive African-American women is an honor,” says Lincoln manager of Multicultural Marketing Shawn Thompson.
Grab your glowsticks and dosey-doe. But first, riddle me this: what song could she be possibly singing that hard?
Covered in body glitter, Kelis invaded Tryst nightclub at the Wynn Las Vegas over the weekend in an ensemble glistening from head to toe: a champagne cocktails dress adorned with jewels, a chunky necklace, and dazzling pumps.
Putting Nas’ child support and alimony coins to use, she completed her look with an attention grabbing tiara. Girl, you still so different after all these years.
If you’re looking for a messy divorce quote you’re not going to get it here. In so many words, Kelis told a journalist ain’t nobody got time for that when she was surveyed on her thoughts about ex-husband Nas using her wedding dress on his forthcoming album cover at this weekend’s Isle of Wight festival:
“You know, my feelings about it are not really relevant. At the end of the day, Nas is an artist and for whatever it’s worth, he’s one of the greatest, especially for what it is that he does. For someone in hip-hop to really be genuine and honest, whatever the honesty is about, I think it’s awesome. My feelings about it aren’t necessarily valid, but as an artist I can respect that he wears his feelings on his sleeve. I like that.”
Nas took a moment to admire the kicks of BBC radio host DJ Semtex while making his promotional rounds in London on Thursday (June 21).
Here’s some shade to stand under: The Queens rapper revealed that his decision to drape ex-wife Kelis‘ unique green wedding dress over his lap for the cover of his tenth studio album was to convey “an old blues man talking about his life.”
“She took her stuff out of the house and left her green wedding dress. And that was all she left,” he explained on his ‘Behind the Music’ special earlier this year.
