Weeks after giving birth to a healthy son Fantasia treated daughter Zion to a girls’ night out at the Scream Tour in their hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina last Saturday. Phoning in from her home where she is currently on bed rest, Tasia Mae tells Wendell that she “was ready to walk to New York” after hearing whispers that she was responsible for holding up production on the film due to the Jackson family’s disapproval over her unwed pregnancy from producers.

“I wanted to make her (Mahalia Jackson) family proud and Mahalia Jackson proud,” she said.

According to Fantasia, the producers of the Mahalia Jackson biopic project came to her. Overjoyed, she began studying about the gospel great and gaining weight for the role.

“She is anointed… I feel about her the same way I feel about Aretha Franklin,” said Fantasia who was upset about being excluded from Aretha’s Grammy tribute earlier this year.

Fantasia told Wendy’s audience that filming was to begin in January 2012, but shortly after she began preparing for the role, she was told that investors backed out for money related issues.

She then explained that there were no contracts signed, just talks. However, she continued to gain weight for the role and prayed that things would work out.

Fantasia said she has not heard from the family or the producers concerning any discontent.

“My word is my bond. My name is all I have,” she said.

When asked whether she was still dating her baby’s father, Antwaun Cook, Fanny opted not to answer. “I’m not focusing on that today,” she said. (source)

According to the New York Post, the producers of Mahalia Jackson’s biopic are upset with Fantasia for concealing her pregnancy, along with members of Jackson’s family who are concerned that Fantasia’s pregnancy by a married man could tarnish Jackson’s image.

Members of legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson’s estate are aghast that 2004 “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino has become pregnant by a married man as she prepares to play the Queen of Gospel in the biographical film “Mahalia!”

Producers are also furious with Fantasia, 27, for not telling them about her unexpected pregnancy until she was four months in. “She [initially] claimed that she was putting on weight for the role,” an insider said.

Production of the movie has been pushed back because of Fantasia’s pregnancy with her married boyfriend, Antwaun Cook.

“The family thinks if Fantasia plays the role, it’s going to sully the name of Mahalia,” executive producer Adrian Taylor told us. “They think she’s got the wrong image, having a child out of wedlock.”

Barrino’s pregnancy has also caused chaos with scheduling conflicts because filming has been delayed until after her due date on Dec. 27. Director Euzhan Palcy may be forced to drop out of the project.

Producers are now scrambling to finish the movie by fall 2012. Barrino has been asked to start filming as soon as January and is in negotiations to alter her contract to allow time for breast-feeding and nurturing her child on set.

In the meantime, producers are working to find a replacement if Barrino doesn’t agree to start shooting after New Year’s. Missy Elliott has been suggested.

Because of the unexpected bump, the film’s budget has been increased from $23 million to $27 million.

Dino Gankendorff, who represents Mahalia Jackson’s estate, told us, “I’m not really aware of any objections that the heirs have to the casting of Fantasia. I understand that they were getting ready to film and that she is pregnant, and I don’t know who is she pregnant by.”

Barrino’s rep said, “This is the first time I’ve heard about this. I have no comment.” (source)

Somewhere inside a storage shack nestled deep in the North Carolina woods Aunt Bunny just sternly instructed Teeny to bring her plenty of clean towels and put a pot of water on the stove. That there blessing from God in Tasia Mae’s stomach is ready to come. Well, almost.

Doctor’s Orders! Fantasia has officially been put on bed rest. Which means she’s had to pull out of her latest scheduled performance gigs.

Singer Fantasia officially confirmed her pregnancy last month during a performance for the opening of an apartment complex. And we had already been speculating for several weeks before that her belly was protruding more than usual.

So she seems to be gearing up for labor soon. But she’s been ordered to be on bed rest by her docs.

Confirming what many of us already suspected when Antwuan started sniffing back around Fantasia is expecting her second child. The big news came over the weekend with the singer randomly appearing at a charity event in support of the Riverview Apartments in Jacksonville, Florida.

“You are the first persons that I share this news with,” said Tasia Mae during her performance of “Even Angels.”

“And I share this with you because I can relate to you. And for a while I walked around figuring out what will they say and what will they think about me. But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk, so, this child that I’m carrying God has given me this child. And I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all,” she added before asking the crowd to keep her in their prayers.

Seriously, for me log in to Wordpress to write up a splashy entry about Fantasia and boyfriend Antwaun Cook’s weekend vacation filled with “I can’t believe this!” type of jargon would be both late and draining. We all knew this chapter was far from being over with. Clutch your pearls if you absolutely must while looking on in disgust (try not to stare directly into Tasia’s gut) but I am sure the popular consensus will be an overwhelming “And?!”

Remember, the reason behind Fantasia’s expanding waistline is because she is packing on the pounds for a new movie role, but quiet as kept Antuwan (cause you know damn well that chapter isn’t complete) probably has a  relentless yearning for that BBW Yahoo groups type lovin’. Either way,  doubling up on Aunt Bunny’s leftovers is putting Tasia Mae on the fast track for Team Chunk greatness.

After 11 nominations (which also  happens to be the same number of checks Teeny has bounced so far this month) Fantasia finally struck Grammy gold with a win for Best Female Vocal Performance on Sunday but the win was, eh, bittersweet.

In a  phone call to 106 & Porch on the day following the awards ceremony, Fantasia candidly explained her decision for not attending the show after being overlooked to participate in the tribute to her idol Aretha Franklin.

“I’m going to be very honest with you. You know I wasn’t at the Grammys last night. I’m kind of going through my own little thing… Last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night.

I watched Cee-lo’s performance, I love Cee lo, love Gaga, watched Gaga, and I love Rihanna’s performance, but I kind of cooked and did my own think last night and was in my own world and was hoping that I won. I have this feeling, like every year I go, I feel like they always look over some of the good singers that are still around and I’m not trying to be funny but that’s just the way I felt.”
