Could Chaka Khan be the next in line to throw rocks in the direction of King Bey’s throne?
Hollywood Tonight caught up with Chaka on the red carpet at the 7th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood event and tried to compliment the icon by saying she was “Flawless like the Beyonce song.” First Aretha Franklin let it be known she has had a couple of laughs on the behalf of Tina Knowles’ root box beneficiary now this.
I don’t know about you, but I think a reference from “Go Head” by Gucci Mane would have done the icon more justice. Peep auntie’s reaction below.
In celebration of her 40th anniversary in music and entertainment, Chaka Khan was inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame on Monday (June 10) at the famed theater’s 8th Annual Spring Gala.
“I am honored that the Apollo is inducting me into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame,” previously said the music icon. “The Apollo Theatre is an American institution and is world-renowned for developing, nurturing, and creating talent for decades. It has supported my career and now they are a part of honoring my legacy.”
Hosted by Wayne Brady, the program included special tribute performances by Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Blige and Deborah Cox. Carol’s Daughter Founder & President Lisa Price received the Percy E. Sutton Civic Leadership Award. Time Warner, Inc. accepted the Apollo’s 2013 Corporate Award, presented by actress Sarah Jessica Parker.

Mitch Winehouse, trap alias Mr. Wipe Down, honored the memory of his late daughter with his wardrobe again like any real G would at the 2013 Amy Winehouse Foundation Inspiration Awards and Gala in New York City on Thursday night (March 21). That airbrushed denim suit is happening any day now.
Jennifer Hudson performed three songs at the event, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd of a few hundred. Nas, who was nominated for a Grammy with Winehouse earlier this year for their collaboration “Cherry Wine,” earned an award, accepting in a video.

Plucked straight from a lookbook highlighting perspective outfits to wear to a Dead Prez concert, Erykah Badu. The singer hit the stage at the BET Honors 2013 on Saturday (January 12) to serenade Musical Excellence honoree Chaka Khan.
After being presented with her award by Kelly Rowland, the 59-year-old diva reflected on her career and encourage everyone to help each other. Wayne Brady and Ledisi were also on hand to salute the the legendary singer with a soulful set.

A few of you seem to have the game twisted. Chaka Khan, spotted earlier this month at a live show rocking an ill-fitting denim onesie from Somaya Reece’s design collaboration with She By Nobody, tells the Huffington Post that even at her heaviest she still thought of herself as a sex symbol. Rawr!
With you receiving mixed reactions stemming from your weight loss, what are your thoughts on some calling you a sex symbol?
Well, I’ve always been a sex symbol. When I was fat I was a sex symbol. Some men like it that, you know. But I don’t think about that. That’s so far from my mind right now [Laughs].
