Andre 3000 isn’t connected at the hip with fans via social networking. So for the most part we don’t know what exactly is going on inside that head of his until he grants us access.
Speaking with The Fader, he explained why he was a no-show in Beyonce’s “Party” video, artists who inspire him, supporting Chris Brown and the future of an OutKast album.
On his decision to not appear in any music videos for collaborations:
So, you know, when I would talk to these artists and we’d agree that we’d do these songs, we would all be in agreement that it was just vocals. There was no visual or anything. Every artist I work with from Beyonce, from Young Jeezy and Jay-Z, from BoB, it was all understood before my first rhyme was written that there was going to be no videos. And I always felt like—you know, I haven’t been in even in a video with Big Boi—it’s kind of disrespectful of me if I can just jump in a video with a new artist and I haven’t even jumped in the video with my own partner. So I always said, I’m not going to fully jump back into it until I really do it. I’m not going to play around. If it’s not my project or an Outkast thing, or you know, if I’m supporting Big Boi, then it just didn’t make sense for me. It just didn’t feel right doing it. So it’s a loyalty to myself and trying to make sure I really wanted to be in the business again.
Speeding, I’m speeding! What is it about Georgia highways that make your cousins want to drive so damn fast? We all know Go-Go was rushing home to change his tampon but I don’t know what to say about everybody else.
Outkast’s Andre 3000 (real name: Andre Benjamin) was arrested near Atlanta Saturday for driving his 2007 Porsche Carrera at such a high speed that police called him “an accident waiting to happen,” according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV, TMZ and AllHipHop.com.
A police officer told the station that the MC was clocked at 109 MPH on Saturday morning, significantly over the 65-mph speed limit, on Interstate 75, and was arrested for the danger he posed.
“Traveling that fast along 75, you’re passing people as if they’re standing still,” Henry County Police Captain Jason Bolton told the station. “It’s an accident waiting to happen.”
The MC was released after posting $1,200 bail, according to TMZ. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 29.
Reps for Benjamin had not responded to MTV News’ requests for comment at press time.
The arrest comes as State Representative Jim Cole is lobbying for a new “Super Speeder” bill to be passed in the state of Georgia. The law will force violators to pay an additional $200 fine for driving at more than 85 miles an hour on highways and four-lane roads. Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has said he supports the bill and intends to sign it into law in the coming months. [source]
That’s enough for me to keep my ride at 75 mph, thanks!
Ciara didn’t let Keri Hilson’s negative vibes stop her from hitting up Andre 3000′s new stage play over the weekend. I would not slap box with this chick! Even Sheree’s cheekbones are no match.
Ladies and zestlemen of the jury I would like to present two habitual offenders to you this evening. Teyana Taylor snatched up one of the hats that Andre 3000 passed on during the filming of the Trans DF Express video and paired it with a gown / pants number for her pal Richie Rich’s over-the-top fashion show. Meanwhile, Estelle was decked out like a member of LaBelle at Wednesday’s night Brit Awards. Who looked more dressed for a closed casket funeral?
Don’t blame Andre 3000 for being a tight wad with his wallet, blame this damn recession!
Atlanta waiter Matt Moore claims that he went out of his way to hook Andre up with some vegan dishes after the rapper visited the restaurant he works in — even though it is non-vegan. Apparently, that effort wasn’t enough and Andre decided to complain anyways — getting his bill reduced in the process. At the end of the meal, the low-baller left a $0 tip and walked away. Classy.
What’s a guy to do? eBay! Moore was understandably pissed and threw his story up on the auction site, along with a description of the injustice and the offending receipt. “The chef had tried to please them with original dishes and took time out of the busy dinner to customize a meal for them,” he wrote. “Despite the spot-on service and super-catered food, they felt the need to leave me no money. I had nothing to do with the food, yet he stiffed me.” [source via SR]
I was going to play my role as a stan and defend Three Stacks to the bitter end but this is way past dirty. I’ve been in the food service industry before so I know what if feels like to be short changed when its tip time. I will keep my horror stories of revenge to myself but trust and believe that some servers are not as kind as others. You’ll be surprised at how many actually remember you from your previous visit.
