Before hitting the runway at Wednesday night’s The Heart Truth Red Dress Fashion Show in New York City, the wife of NBA star Carmelo Anthony spoke to The Insider about model Giselle’s media meltdown in defense of her man and more. Power 105’s on-air personality Cherry Martinez chatted it up with Love & Hip Hop executive producer Mona Scott-Young about her decision to choose a “Barbara Walters” interview format, why Teairra Mari wasn’t apart of the reunion special, rumored cast pregnancies, Somaya Reece calling her a bitch and more.

“It is what it is. And listen, the thing about it is I’m probably the closest person to them, right. I’m the person drawing stories from them, communicating with them. There when things go bad, there when things are great,” says Scott-Young about the cast coming across as resentful on the reunion special.

“So, I actually see them calling out my name not as them being resentful as much as this is the person that they turn to for everything with the show. So, you know I definitely accepted that responsible and that role.”

Jezebel – Actress Octavia Spencer has been the toast of the town since getting a heap of award nominations for her role in The Help, but, much to her dismay, a lot of the conversation in the press about her has involved her weight. She took to Facebook to air her frustrations and set the record straight.

After being honored by my Guild on Sunday, I was whisked to the Press Room where one of the first questions I was asked (by Ted Casablanca) was ‘what I felt about underweight women’. (i’m paraphrasing here) I’m thinking….this is relevant because… Then I started thinking, would these questions ever be asked of my male counterparts? Better yet, underweight actors or actresses? Nah, I don’t think so!

Anyway, I answer: “Women would be a lot happier if they ate…However, it is society that has told them and continues to tell them that you are less valued if you are of a certain age, or weight…something has to change.

I began that by addressing my own weight issue..”Granted I’m not at the healthiest weight because when you are heavier around the middle…” blah blah blah. You get it. The next thing I read, Octavia Spencer is WORRIED ABOUT HER WEIGHT…. OCTAVIA SPENCER FEELS SHE IS LESS VALUED BECAUSE OF HER WEIGHT…

Of course I was miffed that not only was I being misrepresented, but it was sending THE WRONG MESSAGE to kids out there. So, I decided to tell you IN MY OWN DAMNED WORDS the truth! First of all, Ladies and Gents here’s what i am NOT DOING….I am NOT WORRYING ABOUT MY WEIGHT! I AM NOT TRYING TO CONFORM TO an unrealistic model of beauty.

Be happy in your own skin. If you are unhealthy start by making small changes to become healthier. You are unique, beautiful, and worthy. Last but certainly not least, don’t buy into any of it. AND I MEAN LITERALLY! I don’t buy magazines that don’t feature women who represent my physicality or varying ethicities on their cover because they are saying, YOU DON’T MATTER TO ME…YOU ARE NOT MY DEMOGRAPHIC. After calling out his “chauvinist ways” to Sister 2 Sister magazine editor Jamie Foster Brown during the couple’s cover story interview, America’s favorite Curious Case of the Cottles was just as eager to come to her “overbearing” husband’s defense. The Queen of the South has spoken, peasants.

Honestly, one thing I can say about T.I. is he has made all my dreams come true. Everything I have ever asked him for, everything I say I want to do, he makes it happen . . . Sometimes he can be a little overbearing ’cause he wants to know your every move, what’s going on and why ain’t you here.

On the flip side, there’s a lot of men that could give a shit about where their woman is or when they’re coming back, ’cause they want to do what they want to do. So I’m blessed to have someone that cares enough to want me around at all times.

Today, she lives in LA with current squeeze, rapper Wiz Khalifa, the 24-year-old who shot to mainstream fame with his ode to Pittsburgh, “Black and Yellow” last year.

After the Kanye breakup, Amber “totally separated myself from hip hop,” she said. “I didn’t listen to the radio, I just totally got out of the world. I listened to heavy metal.”

But she was single for only a few months before she met Wiz Khalifa via Twitter.

“I was scared, because he’s four years younger than me, and he’s in the same industry as Kanye and I was so over all that,” said Amber. “All odds were against him, but I couldn’t fight the feeling. Wiz is the better man.”

The couple has been dating for a year — they have each other’s names tattooed on their hands — and Amber said they’re thinking about marriage, babies, and buying a home together.

“We both travel a lot, so when we do see each other, we lay up in the bed, get sticky with each other, and watch movies,” said Amber. “If Wiz felt insecure about me dating Kanye, I wouldn’t be with him today. Everyone is someone’s sloppy seconds, unless you’re a virgin.”

Do you think Sanaa’s initial reaction was out of pocket or understandable?

Ebony Magazine: You recently got caught up in a nasty rumor with Kobe Bryant, that you were somehow the reason for his marriage ending after you two were seen in the same VIP section at Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne concert. I have to say I absolutely loved your response to the rumor on Twitter.

Sanaa Lathan: I probably shouldn’t have said that because I don’t discriminate when it comes to dating. I have dated all races and I believe you should be free to do whatever you want.

But I was so annoyed because I was having such a great time at the concert and Kobe happen to be standing next to me, and then all of a sudden I was tied to his break-up. That’s absurd, and I tweeted that in the moment, and I regret it.

But to each its own. It’s just funny that if it’s written people believe it, and even though I have said I have nothing to do with him, people are still saying when the baby is due?

Yeah, I’ve always had issues with women. Like, I love hard. If I’m in love, I love real hard and give the woman everything. Sometimes I expect too much and maybe I think my subconscious wants that person, naturally. As far as effort, there is nothing worse than when somebody doesn’t match your effort. But I love too hard, so will they ever be able to match it? When you give emotion to a woman, you want it to be reciprocated and not play yourself.

I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him . . . That’s the goal. I watch all the addresses. Any time I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel. I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions.

Under normal circumstances the Original Song category for the Oscars sees four to five nominations, but only two contenders were announced this year — “Real in Rio” from “Rio” and “Man or Muppet” from “The Muppets” — leaving tracks from Elton John and Lady Gaga, Pink, will.i.am, Elvis Costello, Zooey Deschanel and Mary J. Blige out of the race.

“It hit hard. It was kinda rough. I must say,” MJB told ‘Watch What Happens Live!’ host Andy Cohen on Tuesday night about her song “The Living Proof,” for the film “The Help” being snubbed.

“I’m confused. I don’t know what to say except for I just gotta keep doing what I do and look at this as a battery in my back to keep striving and be thankful for the lesson, count it as a blessing.”

“I think the lesson is to just keep going. Don’t let things make you spiral down,” she said. “The positive side is that there’s obviously something better” for me.

Willona Woods took to Twitter shortly after the nominations were announced earlier that morning to vent her frustration, writing “I’m so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean. 2 only nominate 2 of the 5 slots is . . . ”

The movie landed a nomination for Best Picture and stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer were both nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.

So, how was the sex you’re wondering?

I’ve learned, at this point in my career, that I need to start having some fun. Everything can’t be Colored Girls.
