Melina Matsoukas, the director at the helm of Rihanna’s controversial music video for “S&M”, is coming  under fire for what supporters of photographer Dave LaChappelle is saying is a blatant rip off his work. Take a look at the evidence for yourself below!

In a side-by-side comparison between LaChapelle’s previous work and screen captures of the Matsoukas directed music video, the similarities are indisputable – with nearly identical sets, scenarios, and styling.

The source claims that Matsoukas had photographs from past Italian Vogue shoots by LaChapelle, ranging from 1995-2002 laying around the set of the music video shoot. And the evidence does appear overwhelming.

In one scene Rihanna is seen leading a man, who is crawling on his hands and knees, by a leash – a pretty much exact match to a previous LaChapelle Vogue photo. In a bizarre twist, RadarOnline.com has learned that the man portraying a dog in Rihanna’s video is no less than celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton!

And, perhaps Perez wasn’t too pleased with the finished product, he later tweeted : “The next time you make a David LaChapelle music video you should probably hire David LaChapelle.” Ouch! (Radar Online)

And like the good stunt queen that he is, Perez later deleted the tweet. I beg you to act like you give half a damn, though.

JACK MOVE OR CREATIVE COINCIDENCE?

A Fresno, California based homemaker felt outraged after reading Tameka Foster Raymond’s Huffington Post essay not because of the subject matter but because she believed Foster tried to pass the work off as her own.

Although perturbed by Foster’s alleged plagiarizing, Curry tells Black Voices that she hopes that the message of her book, Pretty For a Black Girl,  resonates with people. Reps from Margeaux Taylor [ahem] had no comment.
