Yaya DaCosta has been cast to play the late Whitney Houston in Lifetime’s biopic due out in 2015. The ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Cycle 3 runner-up’s acting credits include roles in movies like Lee Daniels’ The Butler, In Time and Tron: Legacy.
Angela Bassett will make her directorial debut with the film, which is tentatively titled I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story, according to Us Weekly.
The plot line chronicles Our Fair Lady Nippy’s volatile romance with The King of R&B (and don’t you forget it) Bobby Brown “from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage.”
“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” Basset said in a statement last month.
The actor who will take Bobbay’s role has yet to be announced. Any suggestions?
