A yaki-free Toni Braxton hammed it up for the cameras while signing copies of her new book “Unbreak My Heart: A Memoir” at Barnes & Noble on Tuesday (May 20) in New York City.
In the introspective memoir, the 46-year-old reveals that she was wracked with guilt after terminating her pregnancy more than a decade ago.
Toni discovered she was pregnant by then boyfriend, soon to be husband Keri Lewis during the middle of a six-month prescription of Accutane, a powerful prescription acne treatment which comes with major side effects for fetuses. Toni went on to add that her reasons had more to do with convenience than fear her baby would be abnormal.
Years following the abortion, when her youngest son, Diezel, was diagnosed with autism she felt she was to blame. “Is God punishing me for that abortion?” she writes.
Toni also wondered if her battle with lupus and her parents’ messy divorce were consequences for her action. (In the book she writes that her father married his sideline hoe 30 days after he got divorced.)
