As the whispers in The Big Peach about ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Peter Bailey being caught up in shady business with fellow cast mate Apollo Nida reached a fever pitch, Cynthia Bailey went on the defense against reports that her always enterprising husband was involved in the alleged scam.
“I can’t speak on Apollo, but I can say that Peter Thomas doesn’t have anything to do with a bank fraud scandal to my knowledge,” Bailey explained to Jet magazine over the weekend. “The feds are not sitting outside of our house. That is just not accurate information.”
Peter also weighed in on the fraud allegations, telling Sister 2 Sister magazine “I don’t know nothing about it. I have absolutely no comment on his arrest. I just have to wait like everyone else to see how it plays out. I hope that everything will play out in the best form.”
Apollo, who has been no stranger to troubles with the law over the years, surrendered to authorities on January 23 for multiple counts of fraud and identity theft.
According to a written affidavit, Apollo stands accused of creating fake companies in an effort to access LexisNexis and Equifax databases to find individuals to scam; opening fake bank accounts under the real names he got from the databases, and funneling stolen U.S. Treasury checks and auto loan proceeds into said accounts.
He spent five years in prison for violating federal racketeering laws related to auto title fraud.
