Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey and Joel “JoJo” Hailey have denied the long speculation that there’s a such thing as a Bad Boy Records curse.
The rumors involves Sean “Diddy” Combs kicking wet-from-piss box full of abandoned puppies (known as former Bad Boy Records artists) that sits outside his offices and denying them kibble or some shit, but the Hailey Brothers aren’t buying into the conspiracy.
“A Bad Boy curse? I don’t think so,” K-Ci told Hip Hop Wired when quizzed on the rumor.
As Andre Harrell’s intern, Mouf Breeva was assigned to develop Jodeci during their early years at Uptown Records.
“Actually Diddy wasn’t a bad boy,” added Jo Jo. “I mean he gave us an image. He’s smart. He had a lot to do with our image and everything. He showed us around New York and he played a big part of Jodeci’s career. Actually, he was like the fifth member.”
“We were church boys from down South,” he explains in a recent EBONY profile on the duo’s return to music. “Besides learning how to take the train to125th Street so I could hang out in Harlem, we didn’t know a lot about the city.”
