‘Mad Men’ actress Teyonah Parris loaded up on free swag at Kari Feinstein’s Pre-Emmy Style Lounge on Thursday (September 19).
The South Carolina-bred Julliard grad is the sole Black character on AMC’s hit 1960′s ad agency drama, playing the role of Don Draper’s secretary, Dawn Chambers.
“In any role you take, the responsibility and pressure is usually self-imposed,” she explained to Ebony.com in May. ”For Dawn, she is a person in the Mad Men community and I hold this role with the utmost importance, be it in an all-Black or ethnically mixed cast.”
“I don’t treat Dawn any differently than any other role I’ve had, because if I did, I don’t think I’d be able to function. When you think of everything around a role and everything people are putting on you and want you to represent, there’s no way you can function and be truthful to a character with all of that in your head.”
On Tuesday AMC announced that instead of a final season of ‘Mad Men,’ as was planned for next spring, the much-acclaimed series will follow the strategy it took with ‘Breaking Bad’ and divide in two, pushing off the finale for another year.
