Did the overwhelming urge to raise your hand for a tithe envelope come over you just now? Don’t worry, you aren’t alone. Damon Dash was outfitted perfectly for a Men’s Fellowship program at the ‘Mama, I Want To Sing’ 30th Anniversary Gala Celebration at the Dempsey Theatre in New York City on Friday (March 22).
Earlier this month, Philadelphia-based web developer Matt Dunleavy acquired the social media site BlockSavvy.com founded by the fallen hip hop impresario.
When asked whether the purchase was related to the collapse of Mr. Dash’s personal finances, Dunleavy abruptly responded, “First of all I’ve seen quite a few people taking public shots at Dame and I’m not going to be among them. During the economic collapse of the last decade business owners in various industries took the sharp end of the blade.”
He continued: “At the end of the day there are still people around that know what he accomplished in cut throat industries like entertainment and fashion. Half the younger people running around starting these alleged ‘record labels’ and ‘clothing lines’ are following the same template he pioneered with Roc-A-Fella over 15 years ago.”
