Miss Brandy Norwood promised her Starz an epic music video for a song many forget about – “Put It Down” featuring Chris Brown.
She pushed back the video release date over and over again, leaving fans praying for a Brandy comeback frustrated.
After a few false starts and interview after interview hyping up the video, Brandy blessed the R&B world with the video directed by Hype Williams on BET’s 106 & Park and the colorful and sassy video now has her fan base split.
The ‘Put It Down’ video is everything Brandy fans were hoping for. It’s fresh, youthful, the fashion was on point and most importantly it looked like the singer was having fun, but will this do anything to help the success for her upcoming project?
Even though fans are pleased with the video, they are still left frustrated on why it took over two months for it to be released.
The song was sent to radio in early May and been a mediocre hit on the charts, only peaking on the top thirty Billboard R&B charts and no where on the Billboard Hot 100. Now three months later, Brandy finally puts out the music video and this is supposed to rejuvenate her fans to request the song on the radio?
Style Jury: Brandy’s ‘Put It Down’ Looks
For this to be the first single off her new album ‘Two Eleven,’ which was recently pushed back again to October 16, it is obvious Brandy and her management need to regroup. When you live in the world where ‘Call Me Maybe’ is number one on the music charts for over five weeks, she needs to change her game plan. Yet despite her mistakes, Brandy fans and C+D still have hope she will be the savior for female R&B.
Here’s to hoping a new single comes out soon that will be promoted correctly! Until then, check out this Brandy interview with Youtube’s favorite duo The Skorpion Show.
