Singer/actress Jordin Sparks will make her big screen debut this Friday in ‘Sparkle’, starring alongside the late Whitney Houston in her final starring role. For Sparks, working with the iconic singer was a dream come true but learning her death was an absolute nightmare.
“Whitney’s gone,” Sparks recalls. “I lost all feeling. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t say anything. I don’t think I was breathing. I still have moments where it hits me and it’s like, she;s not here. There’s this void.”
‘Sparkle’ casts Houston as mother of three singing daughters trying to make it in 1960′s Motown. Tika Sumpter and Carmen Ejogo round out the talented trio.
It’s been six months since her passing, but for her co-stars, Houston’s legacy lives on.
“Whitney seems like she’s one of the people to be real with, not ‘Hollywood.” Mike Epps told Celebuzz. “I would talk to her about real stuff, life.”
“She said, ‘Straight up, man, if anything ever happened to me, I did it it. I’ve seen everything, had everything.”
More flicks from the Alice & Olivia screening of ‘Sparkle’ and more at the Tribeca Grand Hotel on Tuesday night (August 14) below.
