“I only came for the bitches and the drinks.” This is an example of the lyrical masterpieces Trey Songz’s loyal ”Angelz” can expect on August 21 with the release of his fifth studio album Chapter V.
The album consists of 18 different track featuring the likes of Lil’ Wayne, Diddy and Rick Ross. Trey Songz previously collaborated with T.I. on his first single “2 Reasons” where he calls women dancing “bitches.”
With Passion, Pain & Pleasure being his most successful album to date, the Virginia-born singer is obviously very comfortable. He found major success with his first crossover single, “Say Aah,” and ever since then he has been coasting releasing song after song about drinking at the club and sex.

For an artist who praises men like Prince, Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross, Songz needs to expand his lyrical content if he wants to be taken seriously as a soulful R&B artist. Yes, male R&B heavyweights like Marvin Gaye, R. Kelly and Teddy Pendergrass had songs with sexual content, but they explored their talents and didn’t just claim to invented sex.
It is obvious Trey Songz has the vocal talents to take his career to the next level, but is it laziness or is it the fear that the teenage girls won’t buy his albums if he isn’t singing about his package?
