Spotted: Lauryn Hill Keeps ‘Em Waiting At Bluesfest

Per usual stunt queen behavior, Lauryn Hill was 40 minutes late for her performance at Bluesfest in Ottawa, Cana Tuesday night, scarcely avoiding breaking the city’s 11 p.m. noise curfew and aggrieving the festival’s tight schedule.

Donning oversized sunglasses and a striped dress, Ms. Hill, who recently pleaded guilty to evading more than $1 million in taxes, reportedly looked uncomfortable singing. According to a writer for the Metro News, she struggled through uninspired remixes from the 14-year-old ‘Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ (wait, how old do you feel right now?) before coming alive to rap some Fugees classic.

Can’t blame that one on island dick.

She wrapped up her set by bringing her kids on stage and letting them sing and rap. Cute gesture, but it cut into Snoop Dogg’s slot.

1. Kids are cute, yes, but I did not pay my good money to come see them sing on stage. I’d be pissed.

2. Bitch you really, truly can’t be on time? What the fk is you doing that you’re 40 minutes late?? Seriously, this isn’t an office job, this isn’t where you took the gotdamn train and got stuck in the underground tunnel and had no means of contacting anybody. That’s just balls out. You got another job that prevents you from being on time Lauryn, and don’t give me that I’m a mother bullshit, because so am I and I still get to work on time.

3. You need some new songs. If you still singing shit from over a decade ago, you need to move the hell on. I loved me some “Miseducation…” but bitch that isnt you anymore. That woman was creative, talented, original, and free. You now is crumpled, broke, irrelevant, entitled and annoyingly late.

4. Wearing sunglasses at night makes me wanna smack the piss outta her. There’s a reason they’re called sunglasses and not moonglasses.

5. My utter disdain for her is due to the fact that she had this amazing talent that she pissed away. This magical voice, looks and ability to rap. And now she all offended that her fans still expect her to perform? Fk you.

  Lol at moonglasses. I read an interview with her years ago and based in what she said I don’t think she’s cut out to be a mega star-its more than a notion to be a Beyonce for real. I think she lacks the mental, emotional and physical qualities it takes. And that not a bad thing in the greater scheme of life but with that said, she might want to consider not tourering but a. Her fans want it and b. she needs the money. Oh and anyone who takes a gamble on paying to see her is, well gambling.

  1. Kids came on at the end of the show and spent a total of three minutes on stage, at that point it was anyone’s prerogative to leave

Hill is not recieving the funding that even a NEW artist would receive from their record label and so not only does she not trust other people to organize for her, she truthfully can’t afford it. She has to organize the transfer of her band, the instruments, her children (as well as taking care of them, her youngest is not even one), and train the new band members because due to lack of funding, she can ‘t retain mucisians that are consistantly available, or willing to drop other engagements, and while I’m not sure about this tour, Last year she was doing all of this and recording on the road. so it is completey understandable how she can be 40 minutes late.
  
  3. MS. Hill has submitted at least two albums thst I know of to her record label, and both were turned down for release, and as she was given multiple advances on her future work, her music belongs to Columbia/ Sony, and whether or not you hear anything is a decision made by suits who don’t give a damn about her artistic integrity and own many of the sites that create hostility towards her. She has the music, she just can’t release it. in fact, your whole point number 3 must be the biggest slap in the face. And don’t even start with that bullshit talking about she could have leaked something because those record executives would drag her ass through the court system faster than you can blink.
