Toni Braxton and sister Towanda Braxton hugged it out on red carpet of 12th Annual Lupus LA Orange Ball in Los Angeles on Thursday (May 24).

‘Braxton Family Values’ viewers watched as Toni broke the news to her family that she had the autoimmune disorder. The “Unbreak My Heart” singer was hospitalized earlier this year after experiencing a “flare-up” that caused her to miss a press event for the reality series.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease, which means the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. Over 90 percent of those affected by the disease are women, with African-Americans four times more likely to get Lupus than Caucasians. Lupus is America’s least known major disease, yet is more common than Cerebral Palsy, MS and Cystic Fibrosis combined and is the leading cause of stroke, heart and kidney disease among young women.
