Our good sister Oprah Winfrey continues to catch the fade as Businessweek reports hit the net. Industry insiders are whispering across the way the Oprah Winfrey Network won’t last another year if a hit show doesn’t find it’s way on the air in coming months.
The Discovery Network has invested nearly $600 million into O’s venture since it began in 2008. Congrats are still in order to both parties as David Bank, a media analyst at RBC Capital Markets, says OWN is the most “successful failure in television today.”
Winfrey declined to comment when asked about the loss.
