Partying For A Purpose
Dave Chappelle was a no show at congressional upstart Kevin Powell’s campaign Wednesday night fundraiser.
The popular comic was the headliner at the $75-and-up fundraiser, but Powell, who is aiming to unseat 13-term incumbent Ed Towns [D–Fort Greene] in the September primary, said Chappelle missed two flights in his effort to get to Manhattan’s hip-hop club, Eugene.
Chappelle’s absence caused some to wonder if Powell, who aborted his 2006 challenge to Rep. Ed Towns, is more hype than substance.
She must have made a bad Dave Chappelle joke.
