Speaking of ushers:

usher That Aint RightBond was set at $500,000 Wednesday for an 88-year-old man accused of using his position as a volunteer at a west suburban church to gain the trust of two boys whom he sexually assaulted.

Charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, Chester Stabrowski of the 400 block of West Maple in Roselle appeared before DuPage County Judge Brian Diamond on Wednesday morning, according to a release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office. In addition to setting the $500,000 bond, Diamond ordered that Stabrowski have no contact with children under 18 and wear an electronic monitor if he posts bond.

Stabrowski allegedly sexually assaulted two boys he invited to a pool party at his west suburban home during the summer of 2007. Authorities claim the 88-year-old gained the trust of the minors while working as a volunteer usher at St. Walters Church in Roselle. He was also a member of the local Knights of Columbus.

“What Mr. Stabrowoski is accused of, sexually assaulting two young boys, is appalling and will not be tolerated,” State’s Attorney Joseph Birkett said in the release. “It is alleged that through his position as a church volunteer, the defendant gained the trust of these children only to betray that trust in the worst possible way.” [source]

This is a damn shame! I thought J. Howard Marshall was dead.  What type of world are we living in when the church ushers tries to give you a tithe envelope and some hot sauce to go?
