Jill Marie Jones Wraps Production On New Film

Although Jill Marie Jones won’t be returning to the small screen as Toni Childs this Fall you haven’t heard the last from her yet. She just wrapped a movie that should be released next year.

From a girlfriend to a killer? Jill Marie Jones wraps production on her feature film debut Redrum, an offbeat comedy produced by Griot Filmworks.

Jones, best known for her role as the self-indulgent Toni Childs on the UPN hit (now CW) Girlfriends, plays timid wife Tanya Diggs, who enters into a killing spree with her husband, played by the director of the film, Kenny Young. As one tries to stop with the murders, the other moves swiftly forward, putting their love to the test.

Joe Torry, Snoop Dogg and Bishop Magic Don Juan also make appearances in the film.

“Kenny has been amazing,” Jones said exclusively to vibe.com about her first film experience. “It’s just so awesome when you work with a director who’s also an actor. He understands what you’re (as an actor) trying to accomplish. (continue)

With the Video Music Awards right around the corner there are so many different events going on. Last night Missy Elliott and Ciara co-hosted a party for White Flash with a “Dripping In Diamonds” theme. On the other side of town Kelis hosted a Pre-VMA bash at. Everybody looks like they are having a good time expect for Andre Harrell. Aww, I think he really would’ve rather have been at Puff’s party.

Michelle got a 48 hour pass from the wig crypt and appeared on Fox’s new show ‘Celebrity Duets’ last night. I didn’t know she had a third album on the way. Shoot, where the second one at? F.Y.E probably put that shit in the clearance bin to make room for - - nevermind.

Michelle and Jai Rodriguez from ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ performed the Destinys Child hit “Say My Name.” He didn’t sound half bad. I almost forgot to mention that Little Richard is also a judge on the show. Shut up! Just when I thought I hit the jackpot with that great Geico commercial. Thanks Butta for the tip!

I must admit that I was a fan of Mya over the years. I even liked that dumb ass song she did with Silk The Shocker. But then she started singing about her ass being like whoa and completely lost me. I hope that her upcoming material for her album has a little bit more substance behind it. Anybody who was able to put up with Sisqo on any level deserves another shot.

I’m Just Saying . . .

It’s no secret that stars love free shit. Who doesn’t like a dope hand out? But sometimes I feel like there should be some sort of system for celebrities who wish to enjoy the giveaways. A check list of sorts. We need some order in this mutha.

I think the people who are in charge of giving away the gift baskets should do one for each specific level of fame. For example, Blu Cantrell does not deserve free tickets for two to a vacation spot in Fiji. A year round bus pass should suffice just fine. If she doesn’t like it she can just kick rocks. Rumor Control: Is Mary J. Blige Trying To Sabotage LeToya?

The LeToya rumors just keep on rolling. The latest buzz around the internet is that Mary J. Blige is trying to ruin her budding career. Hilarious I know.


But if LeToya wants to wrest the crown from the reigning monarch, she’ll need a better display than she presented as Blige’s opener. Singing a small handful of tunes with only a taped backing, and playing in front of a monstrous white sheet (which hid Blige’s already assembled stage setup), LeToya’s overloud 20-minute opening set was both a sonic and a visual nightmare. While she displayed requisite pipes and lots of energy, it also seemed as though the Blige camp had set her up for failure. Yet another indication that Blige is in no way ready to give up the crown just yet. (source)

False. I honestly don’t think that MJB is trying to sabotage LeToya. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. No disrespect to Ms. Luckett but they are in totally two different weight classes, so the threat factor is pretty much non-existant.

Fantasia Opens Up Shop

The “American Idol” winner has teamed up with Carolina Panthers safety Mike Minter to open a chain of beauty salons to fund a home to help single mothers.

The driving force behind the project is Minter’s sister, Rosalind Beaty. Beaty said that she hopes to open franchises that will channel their profits to a faith-based, nonprofit residential home for single mothers.

The first shop is due to open this fall in Concord under the name Imaj Salon and Spa. (source)
